preparations for the move for months. We have Australian visas, an Australian bank account, plane tickets, and a place to stay when we arrive, but it still hasn't quite sunk in. Maybe it won't until I set foot, jet lagged and exhausted, on Australian soil for the first time.
Despite the overwhelming and sometimes scary aspects of undertaking a move across the globe, we could not be more excited. Living abroad is something we have talked about wanting since we were only dating, and now, here we are, as a couple married almost one year and parents to be, with this amazing opportunity to fulfill our dream. We are so very blessed in so many ways.
But of course, we can't make this journey without the love and support of our friends and family, and that's where this blog comes in. The plan is to keep this blog updated with our experiences in moving and settling into Melbourne, and then to continue sharing pieces of our life there, especially when our little one arrives. Being so far away from everyone we love is the largest obstacle we face in this move, and we hope to use this blog to stay connected a bit more than we might be able to otherwise. (The blog has the added advantage of allowing only people who are interested in what we're up to to keep up with what we share, so we don't swamp uninterested folks Facebook newsfeeds with our updates!)
So if you want to share a little bit of our experience as Shanks Down Under, then follow us via Blogger or keep an eye on my Facebook page, where I'll post a link each time we update the blog!
30 days and counting....!!!!
Love,
Victoria
